"Khatoon," a Bakhtiari woman, has married Shirzad, a military man during the reign of Reza Shah. However, due to World War II, despite Iran's declaration of neutrality, northern Iran is occupied by the Soviet Union, and southern Iran is occupied by Britain. Khatoon, for various political reasons, is repeatedly arrested, and under the pressure of Commissioner Rajabof, Shirzad is forced to divorce Khatoon and hand her over to the Soviet army. She manages to escape from Gilan with the help of a man named Reza Fakhar and flees to Tehran.
